What is cold laser therapy?

Cold laser therapy uses a special type of laser to reach the deep tissues beneath the skin where muscle knots are most likely to form. During treatment, a handheld device will be passed over the treatment area, emitting laser energy to a specific depth and for a specific period, which can range from about 60 seconds to several minutes, depending on the issue which is being addressed. Cold laser therapy is often used in conjunction with other types of treatments, including deep tissue manipulation and nueromuscular reeducation and kinetic rehab.

How can orthotics help with back pain and other musculoskeletal issues?

The feet play an important role in musculoskeletal health and function, facilitating balance and movements like walking, and they also play a role in determining the body’s center of gravity and distribution of weight and pressure. As a result, a problem with the feet can often result in added stress and strain on the back, knees, hips and other joints and tissues. Custom orthotics are shoe inserts that are designed on a patient-by-patient basis to address a wide array of issues that stem from the feet. Special measuring and evaluation techniques are used to ensure the orthotics are created to correct gait problems and to provide optimal relief of pain and other issues, and they can be crafted for most types of shoes, including dress shoes and athletic shoes.
